How was everyone’s weekends? I’m well aware that the weekend is not quite over yet (and thank goodness for that!) but we’re seen the high points, yes? Yesterday was a frustrating day for me (lack of sleep, perhaps? Evie had a rough night), but Saturday was just plain awesome. And we didn’t really go anywhere or do anything all that interesting.

Still, I knew it was going to be awesome when I woke up to a private message on Diaper Swappers from an awesome mama who says that another awesome mama had referred her to me. She was looking to sell one of her goodmama diapers and wanted to know before she listed it on FSOT (for sale or trade), did I want it?

*insert image of my jaw hitting the floor*

She was offering me a significant discount off the new price (since it was used, but still people can get nearly new prices for their goodmamas these days). I knew our diaper budget had been tapped for the month, yet how could I resist? I worked on Kile all day long, giving him countless reasons why getting this diaper would be an awesome thing and finally he relented. So yes, I have a goodmama diaper coming my way.

I’m pretty excited to try it out. I really would like to see what the fuss is about. I am afraid I’m going to love it so much that I want more. Heh. A distinct (and expensive) possibility. Still, I doubt I’d want to pay over retail because I am a pretty raging cheapskate. I will definitely be filling you all in with pictures and impressions and all about my experience with this current hot diaper.

In other diaper news from Saturday, I also was notified of a review possibility for a well-known cloth diaper company and I’m pretty excited about that. I haven’t tried out this particular diaper so I’ll be interested in putting it through it’s paces and finding out if it really is as wonderful as a lot of people think it is. Plus, you know, FREE DIAPERS. That doesn’t ever get old around here, let me tell you.

Not related to diapers, but in keeping with the “Good Deal” theme of the day, we did venture out once to go to the grocery store to pick up some essentials. I wanted to pick up some soda as I was nearly out. As we entered the store, I saw a display advertising they had Coca-Cola product 12 packs on sale, 5 for $12 (you had to buy 5). I’m not sure of the exact math on this, but it’s basically a fabulously awesome deal. And I love good deals to the depth of my soul. So I felt very happy about that. And who wouldn’t? I have enough soda to keep me busy for weeks here, people!

Did anyone else find some great deals this weekend?

Rumparooz Tag

Remember when I said that I had to have a Rumparooz diaper?  Well, I must be a spoiled brat because I got one.  And I watched the tracking information online until this diaper ended up in my hot little hands this last Tuesday.  It was probably the highlight of my week.  No, let me rephrase that.  It WAS the highlight of my week.  I mean, look at this thing:

Rumparooz in Lavender Minky Cuddle Bubble

So how beautiful it is?  While the “bubble” aspect of the minky fabric is less bubbly than I would have expected, the minky is still incredibly plush and I couldn’t stop running my fingers through it.  The inner lining isn’t to be discounted either, though.  The fleece that is used in there is also insanely plush.  At least, I think it’s fleece.  Whatever it is, it’s heaven on my wee girl’s bottom.  The inner gussets are very cool and I found they worked great.  Evie had her daily poop while wearing this (of course), and the gussets contained the mess easily.

Front of the Rumparooz

Evie seemed very comfortable in this diaper, though I couldn’t help but fuss about the fit.  I wondered if Evie was ready for the “medium” setting yet.  The “small” setting seems very small.  The stretchy tabs are very stretchy, though, and allow for a lot of fine-tuning of the fit.  I do worry about the fabric catching and snagging on the hook portion of the closure, but I don’t think I can really avoid it.  Also, the aplix closure doesn’t seem near as “sticky” as the ones on the bumGenius, but I don’t have a problem with that (yet).

Side of the Rumparooz

There is a definite “bubble butt” effect with this diaper.  Could be because of the “small” setting adding extra bulk.  Could be because it’s a pocket diaper and they are notoriously bulky.  I find I don’t mind so much.  I think you just need to plan the wardrobe while the baby is wearing such a diaper accordingly.  Of course, today was a warm day so I just let her wear a top with her diaper and that was it.  Very cute.

Back of the Rumparooz

I actually have three MORE Rumparooz coming my way courtesy of the FSOT forum at Diaper Swappers.  None of them are minky, so I’m interested to see if I’ll love them as much without the FABOO fabric.  I’m betting that I will.  Because, at the heart of it, these diapers performed just as I would have wanted them.  Add in that they look good while doing it and you’ve got yourself a winner!  I think this is a great diaper for anyone who is a fan of the one-size bumGenius diapers since the performance is very similar.  And seriously.  Can you turn this down?  I don’t think so.

Evie in her Rumparooz

As I said, we’re very new to this whole cloth diapering thing.  New, but EXCITED.  Or, actually, I am.  My husband is mildly interested.  But, considering Evie wore only ’sposies on Mother’s Day when it was his job to change her diapers all day, I’m guessing he has some catching up to do.  Then again, he might be more interested once we get more “convenient” diapers in our stash.

Yesterday, Evie spent the day in infant prefolds (folded with the “bikini twist fold”), a homemade fleece liner and prorap covers.  I thought it went pretty well.  We only had one pee leak early on in the day and I think that was because I hadn’t made sure that all of the prefold was tucked into the prorap.  Oops!  I also think I need to perfect my fastening technique.  I think I’ve been making it too tight for the little dear as she has, at times, seemed uncomfortable.  And, well, the prefolds aren’t as comfortable as they could be.  I think they could stand a few more washings.

We put her in a BG 3.0 for bedtime and that worked great.  Not even the barest hint of a leak all night long.  And she had a significant poop overnight that I wasn’t even aware of until I changed her diaper this morning.  Whoops!   But I don’t think she’d sat in it for too long, which is good.  I was impressed that the diaper held up as well as it had.  Just as impressed as I was Saturday night she wore a BG 3.0 to the drive-in and had an Epic Poop and it was easily contained.  Now that’s something even your average ’sposie has trouble with!

I did some laundry last night and washed the pail liner I’d purchased at Walmart with the diapers.  Unfortunately, it was a pretty cheap liner.  It bled blue dye on the microfiber inserts and some of the prefolds.  To top it off, a big hole tore open in the side during the wash cycle.  Ugh.  That’s what I get for being cheap.  So I went over to Diaper Swappers and got a Wahmies pail liner off of FSOT.  It’s what I should have done in the first place.

In other news, I got an email this morning that gDiapers has released their new little g pants.  The new colors are Golly Molly Pink, Grasshopper Green and Goodnight Blue.  They look really cute, too!  Also, you get get flushable liners for 10% off for the next three days only.  That’s definitely a good stock up opportunity!
